What exactly is MetaPortAPI?

An Expert Advisor for MetaTrader 5 that acts as a local server. It accepts REST, WebSocket and TCP requests from your own programs and carries them out in the terminal: quotes, orders, history, indicators and live streams.

Do I need to know MQL5?

No. You install the EA once, then work entirely in your own language using HTTP or TCP and JSON. Every example in the docs is copy-and-paste ready.

Which languages are supported?

Anything that can make an HTTP request or open a TCP socket — Python, C#, Java, JavaScript/Node.js, Go, R, C++, PowerShell, MATLAB and more.

Does it support MetaTrader 4?

MetaPortAPI currently targets MetaTrader 5. [MT4 STATUS]

Why is MetaPortAPI better than a cloud API?

Cloud APIs route your requests and account data through someone else's servers, which adds latency and a privacy risk. Tools that connect straight to MetaTrader servers imitate the official protocol and tend to break whenever MetaQuotes changes it. MetaPortAPI runs inside your own terminal and uses its normal connection.

Why can't I find it on the MQL5 Market?

The MQL5 Market does not accept Expert Advisors that open listening sockets — which is exactly what an API receiver must do. That is why MetaPortAPI is distributed from this website.

Licensing & billing

Is the license linked to one computer?

No. The license is linked to your MetaTrader account number, so you can use it on any computer or VPS.

Will I receive my license immediately?

Yes. Once payment is confirmed, an email with your license is sent automatically. Check your spam folder if it hasn't arrived within ten minutes.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

From the customer portal link in your purchase email. You can cancel any time before the next renewal. [CUSTOMER PORTAL LINK]

What is included in a subscription?

Use with live accounts, all upgrades released during your subscription, and technical support. Feature requests are welcome and reviewed case by case.

Technical

Which ports does it use?

TCP 81 for REST and WebSocket, plus the legacy ports 77 (commands) and 78 (data). All of them can be changed in the EA inputs.

Can I connect from another computer?

Yes, on plans that include remote connections. Turn on remote access in the EA inputs and open the port in Windows Firewall. Keep it behind a VPN or an IP allowlist.

Can I run several MetaTrader terminals?

Yes. Attach the EA in each terminal and give each one different ports.

Does it work with TradingView alerts?

Yes — through a webhook bridge that turns TradingView alert messages into MetaPortAPI orders. [WEBHOOK GUIDE LINK]
